The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
